PhD Candidate
Boston Children’s Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts, December 2015 to June 2021
- Mapped the human brain neural network at 22X higher resolution than prior state-of-the-art using multi-day electrical recordings from surgically implanted electrodes (Publication).
- Developed Brain Computer Interface technologies, notably a new algorithm for detecting multiple spontaneous behaviors (e.g. eating, sleeping, ..) in 19 subjects over 24 hours. Preprocessed and analyzed clinical recordings of human activity included iEEG, MRI, and CT using existing and custom data science methods.
- Developed a high-performance computing (HPC) pipeline using General-purpose computing on graphical processing units (GPGPU) principles and low-level tools (C/C++, OpenCL, Python, R, Verilog) to enable an analysis of a dataset 22 times larger than the prior state-of-the-art.
- Designed and implemented computer networking infrastructure to accommodate the storage, analysis, and documentation of large (>100TB) datasets (GNU/Linux, NAS, RAID). Created a data storage structure (HDF5) and API (MATLAB) for data sharing with collaborators.
- Developed a 3D interactive web application (click here) to communicate key findings to the broader research community (LAMP, Html, JavaScript, blender).
- Mentored two undergraduate students and one graduate student
